Macnica Europe GmbH and Newsight Imaging sign distribution agreement for advanced CMOS image sensors for LiDAR applications

Ingolstadt (Germany) and Ness Ziona (Israel), 01. August 2018 - Macnica Europe GmbH announces the closure of a distribution agreement with Newsight Imaging for the European and United Kingdom region.

Newsight Imaging is an Israeli startup that develops CMOS machine vision image sensors for robotics, automotive electronics, industry 4.0 and mobile devices, targeting the following industries:

  • Automotive - Machine Vision and Laser LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) based devices for autonomous vehicles
  • Robotics - CMOS sensor solution for robotic applications
  • Barcode scanner - sensor-based chip for 1D and 2D barcode scanners
  • AR / VR - specially developed sensors for augmented reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) markets

The company specializes in high-reliability, accurate, portable and affordable 3D image capture. The recently-produced NSI3000 sensor has been specifically designed for short-range LiDAR applications and uses rows of pixels of different sizes. The next-generation chip, the NSI5000, will deliver revolutionary LiDAR camera sensors for long-range automotive applications such as ADAS.

Andreas Wemmer, Sales Director at Macnica commented on the completion of the distribution agreement with Newsight Imaging: "Newsight Imaging's patent-pending eTOF™ (Enhanced Time-of-Flight) technology closes the gap between existing short range time-of-flight concepts and the much more complex RADAR and stereoscopic methods for the automotive industry with distances of 100 meters and more. We believe we can offer our customers a cost-effective and attractive solution for robotics and automation tasks, and we look forward to collaborating closely with Newsight Imaging.”

Newsight Imaging, founded by experienced semiconductor professionals and veterans of semiconductor industry Eli Assoolin and Eyal Yatskan, is headquartered in Ness Ziona, Israel. The company has offices at Jiashan Science Park near Shanghai to sup-port and grow its business in China.

About Newsight Imaging
Newsight Imaging Ltd. develops state-of-the-art CMOS image sensor chips and of-fers 3D solutions for volume markets. The sensor is manufactured in CMOS technology with extreme photosensitive pixels and replaces more expensive CCD sensors and other camera modules in LiDAR applications for robotics, automotive (ADAS and car safety) and drones, as well as in other markets such as mobile depth cameras. AR/VR, Industry 4.0 and barcode scanner.

Newsight's NSI3000 family is already on the market with major customers and a large pipeline of evaluations. Newsight's patent-pending eTOF (Enhanced Time-of-Flight) technology closes the gap between iTOF for short distances and the automotive long haul requirements by extending the dynamic range while maintaining high accuracy.
